Ecce Romani is the textbook we shall use in these first and second level courses. The levels are indicated by the textbook name Ecce Romani I or II. The chapters are sequential meaning that book two begins with Chapter 29 as book one ends with Chapter 28.
Our story starts with an introduction to a Roman Family whom we shall follow through adventures in Roman life. Each chapter will present grammar (the means that a language organizes itself) and vocabulary. You will have to memorize these, it's easier than you realize. Remember -- there is a lot of logic to this language leading us while learning it.
You must do the exercises thoroughly. If you have a question, ask the teacher or the Blog (more on that later)!
Be patient with yourself too as each chapter leads to another lesson using earlier material building your knowledge over time. Above all, do each lesson thoroughly and at first concentrate on learning the vocabulary. It is easy, you will shortly see.
Using your textbook, Ecce Romani I, read the "Introduction" found on page XII. It's four pages and will tell you much about the language, culture and people we will explore. When done, answer the questions in the Culture section of the link below.
(Hint: you may need to hit the 'page down' tab on the side of the screen to get the 'culture' questions to appear. Software quirk.)
link .
After you are done with the Culture review, use the map below and locate three Cities: Rome, Pompeii, and Naples. Do you see where Milan is located? Note them for their location to each other. The Family in our stories is in Baia, a coastal resort town, near Naples, they will travel to Rome. Click on each city name for a description.
Now that you are acquainted with the Roman culture start with the explanation below the map and its accompanying videos.
