Did you know that adjectives come with degrees? -- Law degree, Medical degree, bachelor's degree. No, not really. But they have degrees of meaning. That's good, you say. Better, she says. Best, I say. Well, 'good, better, best' are degrees of the same adjective. That's the point. These degrees are named after the middle degree called 'comparative degrees' of the adjective. The first one is the 'positive degree' and the last one is the 'superlative degree.' So positive, comparative, and superlative are the degrees of the adjective. Forming them is quite easy in Latin.
Look on page 65. This shows how adjectives change:
Postive Comparative Superlative
longus/a/um longior-ius longissimus/a/um
Notice for the comparative degree we just add -ior (m/f) or -ius (n) and for superlative we just add -issimus/a/um. So -- long (positive degree) becomes longer (comparative degree) then longest (superlative degree). Read page 65 and look at the forms for the comparative degree on page 67 these take the third declension endings. At this time let's have an adjective review and these two videos will help. The last video will explain comparatives using anime characters.

It's one of those everyday objects from the Ancient World that we would find confusing unless explained. Look on page 61 for examples of dice, mostly made of bone.
